It was supposed to be just another competition day for Blue Ridge cheer. All levels were there, Triplet Littles, Middles, Bigs, and Raiders Varsity, but by the end of the night it became something much bigger, a farewell. The program closed an emotional chapter for longtime coaches Kara Winter and Lori Zawiski, two women who helped build Blue Ridge cheer into what it is today, leaving behind a legacy rooted in community, commitment, and the athletes they’ve shaped far beyond the mat.

Crestwood\'s Samara Bailey, the 2nd seed and last year\'s runner-up, had also picked up a quick 24 second pin to advance her to the finals. This finals match was crazy with multiple takedowns and reversals.

From the opening possession Friday night at Mohegan Arena, the Cougars played like a team on a mission, rolling past Scranton 67-30 to capture the District 2 Class 6A championship in convincing fashion.

WILKES-BARRE — The lights were bright. The crowd was loud. And when it mattered most, Abington Heights rose to the moment.

WILKES-BARRE — With about five seconds left and everything on the line, Janaya Martin delivered the moment every kid dreams about.

At Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza, the game shifted in the final eight minutes. Wyoming Seminary Blue Knights controlled the first three quarters with steady pressure defense and built a 10-point lead heading into the fourth. But Mountain View Lady Eagles responded late, outscoring Seminary 20-6 in the final frame to earn a 47-43 victory. Addison Kilmer finished with 31 points, while Aubrey Sanders added 14. Ella Stambaugh led Seminary with 16 points. A strong finish ultimately decided the Class 2A championship.

Back-and-forth. Possession by possession. No breathing room. With Valley View refusing to fade, Scranton Prep delivered in the closing minutes at Mohegan Arena, clamping down defensively and knocking down clutch free throws to claim its fourth straight District 2 championship.
