Abington Delivers Complete Team Performance and remain unbeaten in District 17 Minors Pool Play

DUNMORE, Pa. — Early offense and overpowering pitching proved to be the perfect combination for Abington Little League on Tuesday evening.

Abington erupted for nine runs over the first two innings before its pitching staff allowed just two hits in a 10-0 victory over North Pocono in District 17 Minors pool play at Dunmore Little League.

Abington wasted little time setting the tone.

After loading the bases in the opening inning, Ford Eckenrode ripped an RBI double to spark a four-run frame. Santo Zanghi followed with an RBI single before Noah Troy worked a bases-loaded walk to extend the advantage.

The offense kept rolling in the second.

Connor Mitchell, Stephen Strauch, Ford Eckenrode, and Noah Troy each delivered RBI singles as Abington plated five more runs to build a commanding 9-0 lead before adding another insurance run in the fourth.

While the lineup continued to apply pressure, the pitching staff was equally dominant.

Stephen Strauch earned the victory after allowing just one hit over 2⅔ scoreless innings, striking out six while walking one. Noah Troy closed out the final 1⅓ innings, surrendering one hit while striking out two to complete the combined two-hit shutout.

Abington finished with 12 hits, led by Ford Eckenrode, who went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Stephen Strauch and Declan Horutz also collected two hits apiece, while Mitchell, Zanghi, Troy, Jack Keeler, Patrick Scanlon, and Mikey Fogley all contributed offensively.

Aggressive base-running continued to fuel the offense as Abington stole six bases, with Keeler swiping two. Defensively, the club played a clean game without committing an error, while catcher Noah Troy handled five chances behind the plate.

North Pocono continued to compete despite the early deficit.

Leonardo Fullwood and Domenico Arcurie each recorded a hit, with Arcurie adding a double. Landen Gebhardt started on the mound before Owen Rosengrant and Arcurie combined to finish the game in relief.

Abington will look to carry its momentum into Thursday’s matchup against Old Forge, while North Pocono will aim to bounce back in its next District 17 pool play contest.
