DUNMORE, Pa. — North Pocono Dandy Lion Little League left no doubt Wednesday night.
Powered by a dominant outing from Joseph Tomcykoski and a relentless offensive attack, North Pocono defeated host Dunmore Little League 12-0 to claim the District 17 9-11 Baseball Championship at Dunmore Little League.
Tomcykoski was outstanding on the mound, striking out 11 over 4.2 innings while allowing just one hit and three walks. Anthony Clark recorded the final out in relief, completing the combined one-hit shutout and sending North Pocono to the district title.
North Pocono wasted little time grabbing control of the game.
After working two runners aboard in the opening inning, Anthony Clark delivered a two-run single to put the Dandy Lion All Stars in front 2-0. They added another run in the third when Nico Bowers reached on a fielder’s choice, stretching the advantage to 3-0.
The game broke open in the fifth.
North Pocono erupted for seven runs, taking advantage of timely hitting and patient at-bats. Clark added another RBI single, Bradley Dwyer drew a bases-loaded walk, and Emmett Bryan cleared the bases with a three-run double as NP built a commanding 10-0 lead before adding two more runs to finish the 12-run performance.
Clark paced the offense by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Dwyer added two hits, a double, an RBI, and scored twice. Bryan drove home three runs with his clutch extra-base hit, and Tomcykoski helped his own cause with a hit and two runs scored.
North Pocono finished with eight hits and also showed tremendous discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks. Bowers and Dominic Trubiano each reached twice via walk as NP consistently pressured the Dunmore defense.
Dunmore battled throughout the evening and turned a double play defensively. James Hart recorded the hosts’ lone hit, a double, while Mason O’Malley and Hart shared the pitching duties.
With the championship victory, North Pocono’s talented 11U group adds a District 17 banner and now turns its attention to the next stage of tournament play.
Congratulations to both teams on outstanding summer runs and representing their communities throughout District 17 competition.
