A quick response turned into complete control Tuesday night. After Blue Ridge landed the opening jab, Elk Lake answered with six runs in the first inning and never looked back as Celeste Clark powered the offense with an inside-the-park grand slam and four RBIs. Now the Lady Warriors turn their attention to a much bigger challenge ahead, a District 2 Class 2A semifinal showdown with top-seeded Montrose on Thursday.

Three innings. Nine up, nine down. Eight strikeouts. Dunmore looked locked in from the opening pitch Tuesday, overwhelming Mountain View in a playoff statement and setting up a highly anticipated District 2 Class 2A semifinal matchup with defending champion Holy Redeemer.

It’s measured in the tears, laughter, bus rides, practices, and dreams shared by a group of girls who have grown up together and are now standing on the edge of something no Northwest softball team has ever accomplished before.

Berwick’s season came to a close Monday night with a 4-1 loss to Wallenpaupack Area, as the Bulldogs finished the 2026 campaign with a 10-11 record after a hard-fought road matchup against the Buckhorns.

Down near the tracks edge, the noise from the infield was constant. Frame after frame on my camera screen captured the absolute truth of the afternoon: competitors wearing completely different school colors running stride-for-stride, actively pulling each other along. You could see these athletes completely emptying the tank to cross the tape, some throwing their heads back in pure exhaustion, others letting out bursts of joy, and many collapsing into the arms of teammates or rivals alike. Looking at those frozen expressions, there was no doubt about it: every single competitor left a piece of themselves on that track.
