From Holy Redeemer to Portugal: Justice Shoats Begins Professional Career Overseas
Former Holy Redeemer standout and Siena Saints guard Justice Shoats is taking the next step in his basketball journey, signing his first professional contract with Clube Atlético Queluz of Portugal’s Liga Betclic for the 2026-27 season.
The Wilkes-Barre native leaves Siena after a memorable senior campaign that helped propel the Saints to the 2026 MAAC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. Shoats earned MAAC All-Tournament Team honors while averaging 13.1 points, 4.5 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game across 35 contests.
His collegiate career came to a fitting conclusion on college basketball’s biggest stage, leading Siena into the NCAA Tournament against national powerhouse Duke. The Saints battled the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, with Shoats delivering a spirited performance in the final game of his college career before Duke advanced.
Shoats’ path to the professional ranks began at Lock Haven University before transferring to Siena, where he flourished under head coach Gerry McNamara, the former Syracuse star who guided the Saints back to March Madness.
Before making his mark in college basketball, Shoats starred at Holy Redeemer, becoming one of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s premier guards and laying the foundation for a career that has now reached the professional level.
Now, the 22-year-old guard heads overseas for his rookie season, bringing his speed, leadership, and playmaking ability to Portugal as he begins the next chapter of an already impressive basketball journey.
