After fighting through the elimination bracket and forcing a winner-take-all championship game with a victory the day before, East Side Little League completed one of the most remarkable runs of the Pennsylvania State Tournament, defeating Blue Mountain 12-8 to claim the 2026 Pennsylvania State Championship.

From the wrestling gyms of Northeastern Pennsylvania to the top of the world podium, Riverside’s Nelson Villafane delivered the biggest victory of his young career, capturing the U17 World Championship in Azerbaijan and cementing himself as one of the brightest young stars in international wrestling.

With their season on the line, East Side delivered its most complete performance of the Pennsylvania State Little League Tournament on Monday, defeating previously unbeaten Blue Mountain 8-2 to force a decisive winner-take-all championship game.

Behind a dominant combined no-hitter from Ryan Donnelly and Ryan Hennessey, an explosive offensive performance, and flawless execution in every phase of the game, East Side overwhelmed Newtown Edgmont Little League 10-0 in just 3½ innings via the mercy rule to advance to the Pennsylvania State Little League Championship.

Greater Pittston completed an unbeaten march through the Pennsylvania Senior American Legion Baseball Tournament Wednesday, defeating Chambersburg 11-4 at Lycoming College to capture the program’s first-ever state championship and punch its ticket to the Mid Atlantic Regional.

With a little over a minute left in the Hoop Group Showcase League championship game, Chuck Hiller called a timeout. The coach of the Wyoming Valley Junior Clutch 17u girls’ basketball team didn’t have a play to draw up or a substitute to get in. Hiller just wanted that last huddle together with a team he has coached for 4 years. “I just told them how proud I was of them and that it was an honor to be a part of it.” Hiller said. Junior Clutch won that game 77-35, securing the HGSL Championship, in their final game of the season.

Facing elimination in the Boys Little League Tournament, Hollidaysburg erupted for 10 runs in the fourth inning, including two grand slams, to defeat Back Mountain 15-3 on Friday in Jenkins Township. The victory keeps Hollidaysburg\'s tournament hopes alive as it advances to face Eastside on Saturday.

One win away. Blue Mountain refused to let the moment get too big. The Section 6 champions stayed unbeaten at the Pennsylvania Little League Majors State Tournament, knocking off previously undefeated Newtown-Edgmont, 9-2, to punch their ticket straight to Monday’s Championship Series. Now, while the rest of the field battles through the elimination bracket for the right to face them, Blue Mountain waits just one victory away from a trip to Bristol and a Pennsylvania State Championship.
