More Than an Athlete: Madelyn Bevan Takes Her Talents to Ithaca

TUNKHANNOCK — Madelyn Bevan has spent plenty of time behind the camera capturing the biggest moments for athletes across Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Now, it’s her turn to be in the spotlight.
The Tunkhannock standout has committed to Ithaca College, where she will continue her academic and lacrosse career at the next level.
For Bevan, the commitment represents the next chapter in a lacrosse journey that has already produced plenty of memorable moments. Through her first three high school seasons, Bevan has scored 94 career goals, finding the back of the net 33 times as a freshman, 25 times as a sophomore and a career-high 36 times during her junior season.
She has also spent the past three years competing on the travel circuit with NEPA Impact, playing for Nicole Hinkle during the 2023-24 season before joining Becky Davis and the 2027 class for the past two seasons.
Her production has made her one of Tunkhannock’s offensive threats, but what makes Bevan’s story unique is everything she manages to accomplish when she isn’t holding a lacrosse stick.
Bevan has become an important part of the SportzWire creative team, contributing photography and graphics while helping tell the stories of other athletes throughout the region. Her work has appeared across SportzWire’s coverage, including photographs used for stories involving multiple schools and sports.
And some of her most meaningful work has come close to home.
Bevan has spent countless hours photographing Tunkhannock athletics, particularly the softball program that includes her twin sister, MaKenzie. While MaKenzie and her teammates compete on the field, Madelyn is often nearby with a camera in her hands, documenting the moments that make a season memorable. Her photography has been featured repeatedly by SportzWire, including coverage of Tunkhannock softball.
That ability to balance both sides of athletics — competing at a high level herself while using her creativity to highlight the accomplishments of others — has made Bevan a valuable part of SportzWire.
But when she steps onto the lacrosse field, she becomes the one creating the highlights.
Bevan has developed into an attacker/midfielder for Tunkhannock, and her production has continued to climb throughout her high school career. Available statistics from her sophomore season showed her among District 2’s point producers, recording 17 goals and four assists in seven reported games.
Now, after years of work on the field, Bevan knows where the next chapter will take her.
She will head to Ithaca College, joining a Bombers women’s lacrosse program and getting the opportunity to continue competing at the collegiate level.
For SportzWire, this commitment hits a little differently.
We have watched Bevan dedicate her time and talent to telling other athletes’ stories. She has stood on sidelines, taken thousands of photographs, created graphics and helped make our coverage better — often while balancing the responsibilities that come with being a student and accomplished athlete herself.
