The postseason atmosphere was there Tuesday night, and the Dallas Varsity Mountaineers responded with one of their most complete performances of the season.

Down near the tracks edge, the noise from the infield was constant. There was no rail to separate the action, just the boundary line where passionate coaches stood screaming out split times, urging their athletes to find another gear. But the real story of the day unfolded right at the finish line. Frame after frame on my camera screen captured the absolute truth of the afternoon: competitors wearing completely different school colors running stride-for-stride, actively pulling each other along. You could see these athletes completely emptying the tank to cross the tape, some throwing their heads back in pure exhaustion, others letting out bursts of joy, and many collapsing into the arms of teammates or rivals alike. Looking at those frozen expressions, there was no doubt about it: every single competitor left a piece of themselves on that track.

West Scranton Invaders defeated Scranton 7-2, led by Kaleiah Connor's 10-strikeout pitching and Mckenna Brudnicki's 3 RBI, securing a road victory.

Kaleiah Connor was Player of the Game, pitching seven scoreless innings with 12 K's and hitting a two-run home run for West Scranton's 9-2 victory.

The Valley View Cougars shut out West Scranton 6-0 on Senior Night. Abbi Call threw a one-hit gem with 8 Ks and went 3 for 3 at the plate.

Friday night baseball at PNC Field brought clean defense, timely hitting, and a playoff-style atmosphere as Valley View and West Scranton squared off under the lights. And once the Cougars grabbed momentum early, they never really let it go.

It didn’t take long for West Scranton to grab control Monday night. One swing set the tone, and from there, the Invaders kept stacking quality at-bats, clean defense, and steady pitching in a game that never really slowed down.

West Scranton picked up a 53 to 44 Lackawanna Division I victory over Wallenpaupack on Saturday night, highlighted by a milestone moment from senior guard Nate Schimelfenig, who scored the 1,000th point of his career early in the first quarter and finished with a game high 18 points.

Riverside used a strong middle stretch and a second-half surge from Mikayla Smith to earn a 39–32 girls’ basketball victory over West Scranton.
