North Pocono celebrated Senior Night in impressive fashion, putting together a strong performance on both sides of the ball to defeat West Scranton, 56-19. The Trojans came out ready to make it memorable, combining a powerful rushing attack, timely passing, and a defense that created key stops throughout the contest.

First Half: Trojans Take Control

North Pocono opened the game receiving the kickoff but lost possession on a fumble, giving West Scranton an early opportunity. The Trojans’ defense responded quickly, forcing a fourth-down incompletion and giving the offense the ball back at its own 37-yard line.

The Trojans went to work behind the running game of Henry Wolff, Cole West, and Chase Zimmerman. After moving deep into West Scranton territory, Wolff powered into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown with 5:57 remaining in the first quarter. Shane Youngblood’s extra point made it 7-0.

North Pocono’s defense continued to make its presence felt, including a semi blocked punt that gave the Trojans great field position and another opportunity. Although the drive carried into the second quarter, North Pocono eventually turned the ball over on downs. The Trojans’ defense answered once again, forcing West Scranton to punt and setting up another scoring drive. Wolff broke off a strong run down to the 11-yard line before Zimmerman connected with Cole West for an 11-yard touchdown. Youngblood’s kick extended the lead to 14-0.

North Pocono kept the pressure on. After another defensive stop, the Trojans drove downfield, with Jaden Taylor and Ethan Baulo helping move the ball inside the 10-yard line. Baulo finished the drive with a touchdown run to make it 21-0. After West Scranton drive stalled, The Trojans struck again when Wolff broke loose for a big run down to the two-yard line. He punched it in for another touchdown, extending the lead to 28-0.

West Scranton managed to get on the scoreboard with a touchdown pass to Quincy Mosley, cutting the deficit to 28-6 after the extra point was no good. North Pocono responded immediately, as Taylor returned the kickoff into West Scranton territory. Zimmerman then connected with Wolff on a pass down to the two-yard line, and Taylor finished the drive with a two-yard touchdown run. Youngblood’s extra point sent the Trojans into halftime with a commanding 35-6 lead.

Second Half: North Pocono Keeps Rolling

West Scranton opened the second half with a touchdown pass to Kaz Colbert, but the Trojans continued to answer. North Pocono’s offense quickly moved into scoring position, with Taylor picking up a key first down before Zimmerman connected with West for a 16-yard touchdown. Youngblood’s kick made it 42-12.

The Trojans’ defense continued to pressure West Scranton, forcing another punt. North Pocono capitalized as Baulo broke through for a nine-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 49-12 late in the third quarter. West Scranton answered with an explosive 80-yard touchdown by Colbert, making the score 49-19.

In the fourth quarter, the Trojans put together another strong drive, runs from both Lawrence Abbatiello and Josh Magnotta kept North Pocono’s drive alive, Gavin Swartz was able to deliver a four-yard touchdown run. The extra point pushed the score to 56-19.

North Pocono’s defense came up with another stop late in the game, including a key tackle by Magnotta, forcing a turnover on downs. With the victory secured, the Trojans lined up and took a knee to close out the game.

Final Score: North Pocono 56, West Scranton 19

A Senior Night to Remember

Senior Night is a special occasion for many families and members of the communities. It’s a time to celebrate the dedication, hard work, and commitment of the young men and women who have proudly worn the red and black. Tonight we honored 15 senior football players, 17 marching band members, and 4 cheerleaders, but for me this night is especially meaningful as one of the football players is my son.

As a father, watching you reach this milestone fills me with pride. The countless hours of practice, the challenges and injuries you had to overcome, and the commitment required to compete have helped shape you into the young man you are today. Football is about more than wins and losses; it teaches brotherhood, discipline, perseverance, and the importance of never giving up. The Friday night lights may eventually fade, but the character you have built and the friendships you have formed will stay with you long after your playing days are over.

Lawrence, no matter where life takes you, always remember the young man you are, the hard work that brought you here, and the people who have stood beside you along the way. Being your dad is one of my greatest privileges, and watching you grow into the man you are becoming is a pride that no final score could ever measure. Keep chasing your dreams, face every challenge with courage, and never forget where you came from. Tonight marks the end of one chapter, but the best parts of your story are still ahead. No matter what the future holds, I will always be in your corner, cheering you on every step of the way.

Congratulations, LA and the rest of the senior class of 2027. Wear the red and black with pride, and carry the Trojan spirit with you wherever life leads. Once a Trojan, always a Trojan!
