Rivalry games always carry weight, but when it’s a rematch of last year’s district championship, the intensity only grows. On Monday night, Wyoming Area and Lake-Lehman squared off once again, and the Warriors came away with a 2–0 victory.

Wyoming Area dominated from start to finish in a 5-1 road win at Nanticoke, outshooting the hosts 25-1 and spreading the scoring across multiple players. Jules Potter struck twice while Ava Musinski, Sofia Menta, and Alana Zdaniewicz each added goals to seal the decisive win.

Valley View powered past Wyoming Area 5-2 behind a hat trick from Jagger Roe and two goals from Braden Loff, while Jacob Cobb and Ben Rogish scored for the Warriors in the second-half rally.

Week 1 of District 2 football had it all, power in the trenches, highlight-reel returns, clutch kicks, and plenty of style. Track is Her True Passion Though Sofia is involved in multiple sports, track has captured her heart. “Track is not all about placing and winning medals,” she explains. “It is about dedication, pushing my limits, competing, and most of all having fun and trying to beat my own times.” Her passion for the sport emerged during her 7th-grade year, when she made the difficult choice to step away from soccer — a sport she had played all her life — to focus on running.

The Wyoming Area Alumni Ring of Pride Camp 2025 brought Warrior legends and future stars together at Jake Sobeski Stadium. Headlined by Penn State captain Dominic DeLuca and Lehigh standout Aaron Crossley, the camp celebrated tradition, talent, and the enduring impact of WA Football. With Coach Paul Marranca, Coach Spencer, and Lou “Bikes” Ciampi leading the charge, the event once again proved why the Ring of Pride is second to none.

Madelyn Keating was nothing short of dominant during her high school career at Wyoming Area. A standout in both cross country and track, she earned an impressive 16 district and state medals—nine of them gold. Her senior year at districts was a sweep: gold in the 3200, 1600, 800, and 4x800 relay. She was the face of excellence in her league.

What drew Makenzie to Lafayette wasn’t just the athletics but also the tight-knit community and family-like culture that helped her thrive. She credits the low faculty-to-student ratio and the school's dedicated support for athletes as keys to her success, both on the field and in the classroom. Her academic drive has earned her a spot on the Dean’s List, a reflection of the same discipline she brings to her sport.

“It was a lot of firsts for me,” says Wyoming Area’s Taylor Gashi, who just qualified for the 2025 AAU Junior Olympics in not one—but three separate events: the Heptathlon, Triple Jump, and Discus. What’s even more impressive? She did it just days after returning from a leadership experience at West Point, balancing military drills with Olympic-level training. From early mornings at West Point to a podium finish at Millersville University, Taylor’s story isn’t just about winning — it’s about relentless drive, community pride, and a young athlete proving that hard work and heart go hand-in-hand.

GWA's pitchers maintained control, striking out batters and limiting Northwest Area's opportunities with consistent precision. Despite the lopsided score, the young athletes from both sides showcased their dedication, though GWA's superior strategy and execution were unmistakable.

Looking to the future, both plan to stay connected to field hockey through coaching. Lyla wants to “train younger kids so they can fall in love with the sport like I did,” while Bella envisions coaching and staying active with friends. Their desire to give back reflects the gratitude they feel for those who guided them.

A senior at Wyoming Area High School, Ben Gravine is a standout in both football and track and field. Known not only for his athleticism, but also for his resilience, leadership, and academic excellence. Ben is the kind of athlete whose strength goes beyond the field and track.

Off the field, Jack maintains a 3.9 GPA and is a proud member of the National Honor Society. He is also a firm believer in faith and family. Jack lives by the quote: “Put God first.”

On the field, Sofia thrives in Winthrop’s close-knit, family-style team culture, forming deep bonds with her teammates. Her goals for the upcoming season are centered on being the best version of herself and a great teammate in every moment.

The Crestwood Comets punched their ticket to the District 2 Class 4A championship game with a commanding 10-0, five-inning win over Wyoming Area in Monday’s semifinal matchup at home.
