On the biggest stage in District 2 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Old Forge didn’t just win the 2A boys championship — they owned it. The Blue Devils raced out to a 26-4 lead after one quarter, stretched it to 43-12 at halftime, and never let the moment slip away in a 69-34 victory over Susquehanna.

Because front row isn’t just a seat in the arena, it’s a place in the story. And the story is still being written.

The “Single A” boys’ race was the highlight of the day, showcasing District 2’s best as Elk Lake stormed to a state championship and Riverside claimed silver. Led by Kendle Jones’ blazing 16:05 runner-up finish, Elk Lake’s top trio set the tone early, while sophomore Trevor Upright and senior Whalen Kinney sealed the title with clutch second-half surges. Riverside countered with tight pack running from Mikey Schimelfenig and the Connor brothers to secure second place. District 2 shined across the board with standout medal runs from Susquehanna’s Maxx Kelly, Lackawanna Trail’s Avery Ronchi, and solid performances from Lakeland and Blue Ridge to cap an unforgettable day for the region.

In a thrilling Week 10 finish, Susquehanna rallied past Holy Cross 21–20 for its first win of 2025. Gabe Maby scored twice and hit Mason Keyes for a two-point conversion to tie it, before freshman Joey Allen tossed the go-ahead touchdown then sealed it with a late interception after Holy Cross missed a potential game-winning two-point try.

The lights were bright, the fireworks loud, but the biggest celebration came from the Holy Redeemer sideline. Brady McDermott’s four-touchdown night ended a 24-game drought as the Royals rallied past Susquehanna, 27-20, to spoil the Sabers’ annual night game and set a new tone for the season.

The Susquehanna Jr. Sabers are rewriting the playbook on youth football safety. As the first STYFC program to invest in Guardian Caps, they’ve put player protection at the forefront while growing the game at every level. With local support and bold leadership, the Jr. Sabers are proving that true strength comes from leading with care.

Weston Yannone scored three times, including two pick-sixes, as Dunmore blanked Susquehanna 50-0 in front of a packed home crowd and improve to 2-1 on the season.

William Marcy didn’t just play the game — he elevated it. The Susquehanna Sabers captain earned recognition as a recipient of the Brandon Burlsworth Character Award, honoring athletes who embody the highest standards of character, perseverance, and integrity — both on and off the field.

Lila Kolcharno and Claire Helring powered a 14-run first inning as Holy Cross steamrolled Susquehanna 16-0 in the District 2 Single-A semifinal.

Leah Traver put on a show at the plate, launching two home runs and driving in three runs as Elk Lake rolled past Susquehanna, 12-0, in a five-inning mercy-rule victory on Monday.

In a commanding display of offensive power, Mountain View High School routed Susquehanna Community High School 13-2 on Wednesday. The Eagles wasted no time, scoring four runs in the first inning and maintaining pressure throughout the game.

After MMI took the lead on a buzzer beating three pointer, Susquehanna head coach Jeff Baldwin sat his team down. “I told them you gotta really work hard, you gotta work this next quarter to win this, they aren’t going away.” The Lady Sabers got six straight points from Lauren Huyck to build a five point lead and held on to defeat MMI Prep to win the District 2 Single-A Championship 37-34. Huyck scored a game high 17 points and Kiera Burke added 10 for the District Champions.

Susquehanna lit up the court on Senior Night, with Mason Keyes leading the way and the team draining nine three-pointers to secure a 55-40 win. Blue Ridge’s Gehrig Dibble led his team with 14 points, but the Sabers’ sharpshooting proved too much to overcome.

In a remarkable display of community spirit, Susquehanna Community High Schools Coaches vs. Cancer event not only met but exceeded its fundraising goal. As a result, Principal Richard Emmons, a cancer survivor, honored his pledge by shaving his head, symbolizing the collective commitment to the cause. The Sabers communitys dedication underscores their unwavering support in the fight against cancer.
