Riverside countered with tight pack running from Mikey Schimelfenig and the Connor brothers to secure second place. Crestwood captured the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 championship with a 2–1 comeback victory over Wyoming Area on Saturday at Wilkes-Barre Area’s Wolfpack Stadium. Wyoming Area struck first late in the second quarter when Lucia Campenni scored off an assist from Juliana Siani, giving the Warriors a 1–0 halftime advantage.

Valley View with a statement win on the road, grinding out a 24–13 victory over Crestwood. The Cougars leaned on their rushing attack as Jeffery Wasilchak punched in two short touchdowns and Tyler Muchal added another score, while sophomore kicker Braden Loff connected on a 41-yard field goal and went 3-for-3 on extra points. Valley View’s defense made key stops late, including an interception from Ashby Bachman, to close out the win. The defending District 2 Class 4A champions will now look ahead to their home opener against Wilkes-Barre Area   .

Crestwood claimed the District Championship in boys lacrosse on Wednesday with an impressive 12-6 victory over Scranton Prep on Prep’s home field.

But Derek’s success didn’t stop at the high school level. In his first year at Western New England, he has already earned a slew of accolades that many athletes can only dream of by the end of their college careers.

Under the lights of PNC Field, Crestwood staged a dramatic comeback, scoring eight runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Dallas 11-5 on Wednesday night.
