Chase Evanofski scored three goals and assisted on another as Wyoming Valley West routed Berwick 6-1 in a nonleague boys soccer match Tuesday in Kingston.
The Spartans built an insurmountable lead in the opening half, scoring five times in the first 29 minutes to put the match out of reach early. Schuyler Davis opened the scoring just 2 minutes, 15 seconds in off an assist from Evanofski. Evanofski then found the net himself three times, converting feeds from Brayden Clark at 7:19 and Noah Fetko at 9:11 before completing his hat trick at 20:25 off a pass from Quinn Buzinkai. Eli Sieminski capped the first-half outburst with an unassisted goal at 28:49, sending Wyoming Valley West into the break with a 5-0 advantage.
Sieminski added his second goal of the match early in the second half, converting an assist from Maks Iracki at the 47:23 mark to make it 6-0. Berwick avoided the shutout when Kaleb Rupp scored unassisted at 56:34, providing the Bulldogs' lone tally of the afternoon.
Wyoming Valley West dominated the possession and shot columns, outshooting Berwick 29-10 and holding a 6-0 edge in corner kicks. The Spartans' offensive pressure kept Berwick goalkeeper Parker Anewalt busy throughout, and Anewalt finished with 10 saves while Clayton Walck recorded one more in relief.
At the other end, Wyoming Valley West's goalkeeping duo of Sergio Gonzalez and Sam Whalen combined for four saves, with Gonzalez making three stops and Whalen adding one, as the Spartans preserved the lopsided result.
Despite the final score, Berwick's defense and goalkeeping tandem limited further damage in the second half, allowing just one goal after the break. The Bulldogs will look to regroup as they continue their regular-season schedule, while Wyoming Valley West will aim to build on the balanced scoring output that saw four different players find the back of the net.
