Wyoming Valley West scored three first-half goals and added another in the second to defeat Scranton Prep 4-0 in a nonleague boys soccer match Wednesday in Kingston.

The Spartans controlled play from the opening minutes, outshooting the Cavaliers 16-8 for the match, and goalkeeper Sergio Gonzalez needed just three saves to post the shutout.

Schuyler Davis opened the scoring just 5 minutes, 55 seconds into the match, finishing an assist from Maks Iracki. Chase Evanofski extended the lead at the 31:37 mark, also set up by Iracki, before Iracki capped the first-half surge by converting an Evanofski assist at 38:54. Wyoming Valley West took a 3-0 advantage into the break.

Brayden Clark added an insurance goal in the second half, scoring off an Evanofski assist at the 75:29 mark to complete the scoring.

Evanofski factored into three of the four goals, scoring once and assisting twice, while Iracki had a goal and two assists of his own in the Spartans' offensive showing.

Scranton Prep goalkeeper Jordan Marsico kept the match from getting further out of hand, turning away six shots. The Cavaliers matched Wyoming Valley West with four corner kicks and generated eight shots of their own but were unable to find the back of the net.

The win improved Wyoming Valley West's scoring output behind a balanced first-half attack, while Scranton Prep will look to regroup after being shut out despite holding its own in corner kicks.
