STROUDSBURG — Twenty-nine carries is a workload.

For Wallenpaupack senior Ed Kiesendahl, it turned into one heck of a Friday night.

Kiesendahl carried the ball 29 times for 242 yards and three touchdowns, powering the Buckhorns to a convincing 35-13 victory over East Stroudsburg South in Week 2.

After dropping their opener to Honesdale, the Buckhorns were looking for a response.

Kiesendahl helped provide it.

The senior found the end zone from 34 yards, 30 yards and 3 yards, repeatedly putting the Wallenpaupack offense in position to take control.

And his impact wasn’t limited to offense.

Kiesendahl added four tackles and a tackle for loss defensively, completing a two-way performance worthy of this week’s Sportzwire Wired Athlete of the Week honor.

But the numbers aren’t the entire reason his performance stood out.

After earning game MVP honors, Kiesendahl used his postgame interview to turn the attention away from himself and toward the teammates who helped make his 242-yard night possible.

Wallenpaupack head coach Matt Nawrocki took notice.

“Eddie is a wonderful player for us and an even better leader. This was shown Friday night when in his post game interview after winning the game MVP, he first off accredited his teammates and more specifically his linemen for his success. Daily he is a positive kid that does the little things right so that the big things can take care of themselves.”

It’s easy to look at 242 yards and three touchdowns and see why Kiesendahl had a special night.

It’s what happened afterward that says a little more about the player behind those numbers.

29 carries. 242 yards. Three touchdowns. Four tackles. One TFL. One big Buckhorns bounce-back victory.

For his performance and leadership, Ed Kiesendahl is this week’s Sportzwire Wired Athlete of the Week, powered by HYDRABATHS® Swing Salt.

Wired Athlete of the Week is presented throughout the 2026–27 school year by HYDRABATHS® Swing Salt, supporting Sportzwire’s recognition of standout student-athletes and their accomplishments across the region.
