The Dallas Mountaineers jumped out to an early lead Friday night, but a big third inning helped Williamsport pull away for an 8-2 victory in a late-season matchup.

Dallas struck first in the opening inning when Peyton Vanvalkenburgh delivered a two-run single to give the Mountaineers a 2-0 advantage.

Williamsport answered in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take control of the game. An error during the inning brought home two runs as the Millionaires turned the early deficit into a 5-2 lead.

Trey Damschroder earned the win on the mound for Williamsport after allowing two runs on six hits across six innings. He struck out eight and did not issue a walk.

Dominick Zangardi started for Dallas and worked 3.1 innings, recording three strikeouts.

Brady Youngblood led Dallas offensively with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while Vanvalkenburgh drove in both Mountaineer runs.

Williamsport received multi-hit performances from Deshaun White, Lucas Naughton, and Giovanni White, who each collected two hits. Deshaun White and Giovanni White both finished with two RBIs.

Defensively, Williamsport played an error-free game. Camron Spangler recorded 10 chances in the field for the Millionaires.

The game served as a late-season test for both teams with postseason play approaching later this month.
