Wilkes Barre Area delivered a dominant performance on the road Wednesday night, rolling past Wyoming Valley West 48 to 12 in a girls wrestling dual that showcased depth and efficiency from start to finish.

The Wolfpack built momentum early and never let it slip, winning eight of the contested bouts and capitalizing on several forfeits to steadily widen the gap. Wilkes Barre Area secured two falls on the mat, highlighted by Julian Suarez pinning Katie Konopki at 106 pounds. Kaylen McIntosh followed with another decisive pin at 112, stopping Julia Cail at the 3:22 mark to keep the momentum firmly on the visitors’ side.

Breanna Wayland added another fall at 124, pinning Ashley Mijangos in 1:55, while several other Wolfpack wrestlers picked up crucial points via forfeits across the lineup. Josneiki Garrido at 100, Savannah Gonzalez at 118, Madisyn Rodriguez at 130, Jacqueline Hernandez at 136, Anaya Torres at 148, and Avah Jobarteh at 190 all contributed with wins that padded the team total.

Wyoming Valley West found success in two bouts, including an injury default victory by Sunayyah Selby at 142 over Gabriela Rivas, but the hosts struggled to match Wilkes Barre Area’s depth throughout the lineup. Multiple weight classes went without matches, further limiting opportunities for a comeback.

In the end, Wilkes Barre Area’s combination of quick pins and lineup strength proved too much, as the Wolfpack walked out with a convincing 48 to 12 win and another solid showing as the season continues.
