DELAWARE VALLEY — In one of the most dramatic games of the opening round of the PIAA Class 6A state playoffs, Delaware Valley battled past Abington Ghosts in overtime, securing a thrilling 56–54 victory Saturday night.

The tightly contested matchup saw momentum swing throughout the game. Delaware Valley led early before Abington surged in the second quarter to take control, carrying a 28–21 lead into halftime. The Ghosts maintained their advantage through much of the second half, but the Warriors responded late in regulation to force overtime and keep their season alive.

In the extra period, Delaware Valley made the plays it needed down the stretch to complete the comeback and seal the two-point win.

Trey Newton delivered a standout performance for the Warriors, scoring a game-high 30 points, including five three-pointers while going 5-for-8 from the free-throw line. Colin McGarvey added 8 points, and Sam Wood contributed 7 points to help power Delaware Valley’s offense.

Abington was led by Faison Garland, who finished with 14 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. Xander Grasty added 12 points, while Malcolm Lucas chipped in 12 points and Elijah Cruickshank finished with 9.

Both teams knocked down perimeter shots throughout the game, with Delaware Valley finishing with nine three-pointers and Abington adding seven.

With the victory, Delaware Valley advances to the Round of 16 in the PIAA Class 6A state playoffs, where the Warriors will face Parkland on Wednesday at a site to be determined.
