Wallenpaupack defeated Nanticoke 3-2 following a decisive goal in the final seconds of regulation.
Annie James opened the scoring for Wallenpaupack unassisted with 8:39 remaining in the second quarter.
Nanticoke responded at the 11:29 mark of the third quarter when Madison Falkowski scored off an assist from Molly Novak. Wallenpaupack answered late in the period to retake the lead, as Alyssa Galasso scored with 44.3 seconds left in the third quarter following an assist from Grace Albion.
In the final minute of the fourth quarter, senior Emersyn Brown converted a penalty stroke with 28.2 seconds remaining to pull Nanticoke even at 2-2. The goal was the 67th of Brown's career, tying Grace Reed for the Greater Nanticoke Area all-time scoring record. Brown is committed to play collegiate field hockey at NCAA Division II Bloomsburg University, while Reed previously competed at Saint Francis University.
Wallenpaupack answered 18 seconds later, as Sophie Fontana scored off an assist from Alyssa Galasso with 10.2 seconds left on the clock to secure the 3-2 result.
Wallenpaupack finished with an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal and recorded five goalkeeper saves. Nanticoke generated 11 penalty corners to Wallenpaupack's two and registered eight goalkeeper saves.
