Valley’s Remarkable Run Ends as Pennsylvania State Runner-Up

The Valley All-Stars (8-9-10 Minors) saw an unforgettable summer come to a close Monday evening, falling to Bullskin Township Little League 8-3 in the Pennsylvania Little League Softball State Championship at South Williamsport Community Park.
Valley wasted little time setting the tone.
The District 17 champions jumped in front with a three-run first inning as Liliana Smargiassi delivered an RBI single before Emma Fredericks followed with a two-run hit to give Valley an early 3-0 lead.
Bullskin answered in the fourth inning, stringing together timely hits to score four runs and take its first lead of the game.
Nora Piercy started in the circle and held Bullskin scoreless through the opening three innings before Grace Eboli took over in the fourth. Piercy later returned to the circle, but Bullskin used aggressive small-ball execution to manufacture insurance runs in the sixth before Ella Bell capped the inning with an inside-the-park home run to right field, extending the lead to 8-3.
Valley finished with seven hits on the afternoon. Eliza Iyoob and Nora Piercy each recorded two-hit games, while Emma Fredericks drove in two runs. Liliana Smargiassi added an RBI, and Mackenzie Thomas chipped in with a hit.
Bullskin was led by Emma Nunnamaker, who drove in three runs, while Ella Bell added two RBIs with her inside-the-park home run. Emerson Lewis also collected two hits in the championship victory.
Although Monday’s result didn’t go Valley’s way, it capped one of the most impressive tournament runs in recent District 17 history.
After an early loss to Bullskin, Valley responded with five consecutive elimination-game victories, earning a second chance at the championship and finishing as Pennsylvania State Runner-Up.
Congratulations to Bullskin Township Little League on an outstanding tournament and a well-earned Pennsylvania State Championship.
For Valley, the season ends with a District 17 and Section 5 title, an appearance in the state championship game, and the distinction of finishing among the top 8-10 Little League softball teams in Pennsylvania…a summer these players, coaches, and families will long remember.
