It didn’t start the way Valley View wanted, but it certainly finished that way.
The Cougars bounced back from a first-set loss Tuesday night, taking the next three sets to defeat Mid Valley, 3-1 (18-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-22), and lock up the Lackawanna League Division II championship.
With a packed gym providing the backdrop, Valley View improved to 14-2 overall and finished its league schedule unbeaten at 12-0.

The title carries added significance for a program that didn’t exist until 2023. Several members of this year’s senior class have been there since the beginning, helping turn a new program into a division champion in just four seasons.
Mid Valley sits at 10-4 overall and 8-3 in league competition.
Both teams now turn their attention toward the District 2 playoffs, with Valley View positioned second in Class 4A and Mid Valley third in the Class 3A.
