Valley View put together a complete four quarter effort Friday night, pulling away early and never looking back in a 55 to 28 Division I girls basketball victory over Delaware Valley. The Cougars set the tone defensively from the opening tip, holding Delaware Valley to six first quarter points and building steady separation as the game progressed.
Cora Castellani led the way with a strong all around performance, finishing with 21 points while attacking off the dribble and getting to the free throw line consistently. Valley View continued to extend the lead behind balanced scoring and crisp ball movement, outscoring Delaware Valley in every quarter and closing the night with a 27 point margin.
Ava Gazoo and Alivia Yurkovic provided steady secondary scoring as the Cougars controlled both ends of the floor. Delaware Valley battled throughout, with Brianna Waldron pacing the Warriors, but Valley View’s defensive pressure and depth proved to be the difference.
Valley View improved to 15 and 5 overall with the win, while Delaware Valley moved to 11 and 9.
