Valley View earned a hard fought 45 to 43 win over Scranton Prep on Thursday night, closing out a back and forth girls basketball matchup that stayed in doubt until the final horn. The Cougars led by two after the first quarter, took a slim one point edge into halftime, and answered every late push from the Classics down the stretch.

Scranton Prep made its move in the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to one possession behind steady scoring from Chloe Mamera and Eva Kaszuba. Valley View stayed composed at the line and defensively, forcing contested looks late and securing the final rebound to seal the win.

Cora Castellani delivered one of her strongest performances of the season, leading all scorers with 23 points while knocking down three shots from deep. Ava Gazoo added 10 points and key rebounds, while Sadie Cardoni chipped in eight points and strong minutes on both ends of the floor. Valley View finished even from the free throw line and matched Prep basket for basket in the second half.

For Scranton Prep, Mamera paced the offense with 16 points, while Kaszuba added 13. Kamyl Lynady and Shannon Bestrycki each connected from long range as the Classics stayed within striking distance throughout.

The win adds another quality result for Valley View as it continues its strong stretch of play.
