ARCHBALD — Facing an early five-run deficit, Valley View responded with the resilience that has defined its season, erupting for nine runs in the fourth inning and rallying past Blackhawk, 13-8, on Friday to capture its second consecutive state softball championship.

The Cougars found themselves trailing 5-0 after Blackhawk scored twice in the first inning and added three more runs in the second. But Valley View chipped away with a run in the third before delivering the decisive blow in the fourth.

Sending 13 batters to the plate, Valley View exploded for nine runs on a barrage of timely hits. The offensive outburst turned a 5-1 deficit into a 10-5 advantage and shifted momentum permanently in favor of the home team.

Senior standout Zoie Krupovich paced the Valley View offense, going 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Ashlyn Palickar also drove in three runs with a pair of hits, while Maggie Hallett collected two hits and three RBIs.

Valley View finished with 14 hits overall. Nevaeh Evans and Coral Kelly each recorded two hits, while Mady Minelli added a double and Abbi Call contributed an RBI single. Cora Castellani also drove in a run for the Cougars.

Blackhawk's offense kept pressure on throughout the game, collecting 11 hits. Addy Ramer led the attack with a monster performance, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, five RBIs, and two runs scored. Lara Selick added two hits and three RBIs, while Kylie Prisuta finished with two hits. Brynn Hysong scored three runs and stole a base.

After Valley View's fourth-inning surge, Blackhawk attempted to claw back into the game. The visitors scored once in the fourth and added two runs in the sixth to cut into the deficit, but Valley View answered with three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Abbi Call earned the victory in the circle for Valley View, working 6⅔ innings while allowing eight runs, four earned, on 11 hits. She struck out six and walked three. Blackhawk's Kylie Prisuta took the loss after pitching 5⅔ innings.

Despite committing three errors, Valley View's offense proved too much to overcome as the Cougars improved their postseason run with the 13-8 victory.

Blackhawk: 2-3-0-1-0-2-0 — 8 runs, 11 hits, 0 errors
