Valley View Boys Pick Up First Win, Riverside Sweeps Girls Tri Match

At Elkview Country Club, the Valley View boys earned their first victory of the young season in their third match of the campaign, defeating Scranton 157 to 169 to move to 1-2.
Braden Loff captured match medalist honors on the par 35 layout, firing a 1-over-par 36. Loff led the field with three birdies on holes 10, 15, and 18. Rocco Farina delivered a steady 39 with a birdie on the 18th hole, Caeden Krause shot a 40, and Rocco Wascura posted a 42, also birdieing the 18th.
Scranton put together a competitive effort behind Travis Mendoza, who carded a team best 40. Jack Lapolla turned in a 42 with a birdie on the 18th hole, Tyler Dempsey posted a 43, and Jack Kerrigan rounded out the scoring for the Knights with a 44.
Meanwhile, on the par 35 Front 9 at Pine Hills, Riverside dominated a girls tri match, sweeping the competition with a 2-0 finish and a team total of 124. Valley View split on the day at 1-1 with a 139, while Scranton finished 0-2 with a 153.
Riverside claimed co-medalist honors with Frankie Wincovitch and Brianna Mills both carding 5-over-par 40s. Wincovitch added a birdie on the 13th hole, while Mills birdied the 17th. Emma Bisignani finished with a 44, highlighted by driving the slight downhill, 287 yard 15th hole alongside sister Liza to make par.
Valley View took second place in the tri match behind a strong round from Ella Mackrell, who carded a team low 43. Morgan Chilek followed with a 46, while Liza Addley posted a 50 and secured a birdie on the 15th hole.
Scranton was paced by Sophia Leonori with a 50, followed by Rhylee Bell with a 51 and Johanelys Paulino with a 52.
