Valley View and Delaware Valley delivered a memorable afternoon as the two schools met in a Unified Bocce match that highlighted competition, teamwork, and inclusion. The event carried extra meaning for the Cougars as Valley View celebrated senior night, recognizing the seniors who have helped grow and shape the Unified sports program within the school community. While it was not their final match, it was a well deserved moment in the spotlight for athletes who continue to leave their mark on the program.
The match featured two games on Court 1 with both teams trading momentum throughout the day. In Game 1, Delaware Valley opened strong and held off Valley View for a 7 to 4 victory. The Cougars answered in Game 2 with renewed energy, but Delaware Valley once again closed out key frames and earned a 9 to 6 win to sweep the afternoon.
While the scores tell part of the story, the true highlight was the atmosphere inside the gym. On each roll, cheers erupted from both sides. Parents, coaches, and players from the opposing teams could be heard encouraging one another with enthusiastic praise after big shots. It was a powerful reminder that Unified sports is built on respect, encouragement, and shared celebration.
For Valley View, senior night added a layer of pride as the Cougars honored graduating athletes for their dedication, leadership, and continued impact on teammates and the school community. The recognition reflected how much this program means to the athletes and the culture it has created within the school.
Unified Bocce remains one of the most meaningful programs in high school athletics. It brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities, creating an environment of belonging, teamwork, and school spirit. Thursday afternoon was more than a match. It was a celebration of inclusion, effort, and community, with both Valley View and Delaware Valley showcasing exactly what Unified sports is all about.
