SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. — Abington Heights accomplished a great deal this spring, but Tuesday’s challenge was a reminder of just how thin the margin becomes in state playoff lacrosse.

Twin Valley used an early offensive surge and never allowed the Lady Comets to fully settle in, defeating Abington Heights, 17–8, in the opening round of the PIAA Class 2A girls lacrosse playoffs.

The District 3 runner-up showed its experience immediately, controlling possession and capitalizing on opportunities to create separation in the opening quarter.

Abington Heights responded with the same identity that carried it through a dominant season — composure, offensive confidence and timely scoring — but each push was met with another answer.

Senior leader Allie Rothenberger delivered one final performance for the Lady Comets, scoring three goals in her final high school game. Rothenberger closes her career as one of the defining players in program history and helped establish Abington Heights as a yearly contender in District 2.

Freshman Brooklyn Yankow continued to show why the future remains bright, finishing with two goals. Olivia Kim, Hawley Lynott and Morgan Davis also added goals as the Lady Comets continued competing until the final whistle.

Twin Valley’s offense operated at a relentless pace throughout the afternoon.

Taylor Ebert finished with eight goals to lead the Raiders, while Madison Lawrence added five. Ellie Kaplan impacted the game beyond the stat sheet by helping Twin Valley maintain possession and dictate tempo.

Despite the result, Abington Heights leaves the season with plenty to celebrate.

The Lady Comets finished 20–2, captured another district championship and added another chapter to one of the strongest stretches in program history.

For the seniors, Tuesday marked the end of a special run.

For everyone returning, it looked like another step in continuing what this group helped build.
