The Tunkhannock Varsity Tigers put together a complete performance Thursday, using timely hitting, aggressive base running , and strong pitching to earn a 15-0 win over Wyoming Valley West.
Tunkhannock got on the board in the first inning after an error brought home a run, while MaKenzie Bevan added an RBI after being hit by a pitch.
The Tigers added six more runs in the second inning. Michaela Howell drove in a run after being hit by a pitch, Bevan delivered a two-run double, Kayden Bamberger and Lucy Karp each recorded RBI singles, and Molly Dana brought in another run on a groundout.
Tunkhannock added two more runs in the third inning on another hit-by-pitch RBI from Bevan and a fielder’s choice by Dana.
Howell earned the win in the circle for the Tigers, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out eight and walking none.
Karp led Tunkhannock with two hits in two at-bats, while Bamberger and Dana each finished with two RBIs. The Tigers also worked eight walks and stole nine bases during the win. Taryn Newswanger and Addisyn Waterman each drew two walks and recorded multiple stolen bases.
Defensively, Tunkhannock did not commit an error, with Bevan recording eight defensive plays.
Isabella Sobieski collected the lone hit for Valley West.
Tunkhannock returns to action Monday at home against Pittston.
