Tunkhannock Tigers Pitching Dominates, Shuts Out Pittston Patriots

Tunkhannock Tigers put on a masterclass in pitching and timely hitting, securing a 4-0 shutout victory over the Pittston Area Patriots on Monday. Michaela Howell was the star of the show for the Tigers, delivering a complete game shutout that left the Patriots' bats cold.

The Tigers got things rolling in the second inning when MaKenzie Bevan stepped up and blasted a solo home run to left field, putting Tunkhannock up 1-0. They extended their lead in the bottom of the third, with Alli Kinney driving in another run with a single, making it 2-0.

For the Pittston Area Patriots, Samantha Herbert battled on the mound, pitching six innings. She gave up four runs on 11 hits, struck out three, and walked one, ultimately taking the loss for her team. The Patriots struggled to generate offense, managing just three hits in the entire contest. Julia Long, Samantha Herbert, and Lili Hintze each collected a hit for Pittston Area. Despite the loss, the Patriots did show some defensive prowess, turning two double plays.

Tunkhannock's offense was a collective effort, amassing 11 hits throughout the game. Addisyn Waterman was a force at the top of the lineup, leading the team with three hits in four at bats and also swiping four bases, contributing to Tunkhannock's overall four stolen bases for the game. Addisyn Waterman, Alli Kinney, MaKenzie Bevan, and Michaela Howell each recorded an RBI. Kianna Hannon and Lucy Karp also chipped in with multiple hits for the Tigers.


Player of the Game: Michaela Howell

Michaela Howell earned Player of the Game honors with an absolutely dominant performance on the mound. Throwing a complete game shutout, she was in total control, allowing only three hits and striking out nine Pittston Area batters. Her ability to consistently stifle the opposing lineup was the foundation of Tunkhannock's victory, showcasing a commanding presence that kept the Patriots off the scoreboard all afternoon.
