Tunkhannock is headed back to the championship game, and this time, the Tigers will get a chance to face the team that ended their season a year ago.

Behind a huge night from Makenzie Bevan and an offense that never slowed down, Tunkhannock powered past Dallas 12-2 on Wednesday to secure a spot in the district title game against Valley View.

For the Tigers, the matchup carries a little extra meaning.

Last season ended with a championship loss to Valley View. Now, after a dominant semifinal performance, Tunkhannock will have another opportunity to compete for the crown against the Cougars.

Bevan was electric from the start, crushing two home runs and driving in five runs in one of the biggest performances of the postseason so far. Her first blast came in the opening inning and immediately gave the Tigers energy and momentum.

Dallas showed some fight in the second inning when Elliot Rigol launched a solo home run to center field to cut the lead to 2-1, but Tunkhannock responded quickly and never let the Mountaineers settle in.

The Tigers added two more runs in the second before breaking the game open with a five-run third inning fueled by timely hitting throughout the lineup. Paige Spudis delivered a two-run single, Addisyn Waterman ripped a two-run double, and Michaela Howell added an RBI as the Tigers kept applying pressure.

Tunkhannock continued to swing confidently all night, finishing with 11 hits. Kayden Bamberger and Lucy Karp each turned in multi-hit performances, while Howell handled things in the circle, allowing just two hits across five innings while striking out four.

For Dallas, Rigol provided one of the bright spots with her home run and RBI, while Alyssa Traver also collected a hit.

Now the Tigers turn their attention toward Valley View.

After coming up short in last year’s championship game, Tunkhannock has worked its way back to the same stage with another opportunity in front of them. This time, they’ll look to finish the job.
