Factoryville — Lackawanna Trail used a dominant first half and clutch fourth-quarter free throw shooting to secure a 66–53 win over Mountain View in district playoff action Tuesday night.
The Lions came out firing defensively, holding Mountain View to just three points in the opening quarter while building a 12–3 lead. Trail’s pressure continued into the second frame, where they exploded offensively to take a commanding 34–17 halftime advantage.
Mountain View showed signs of life in the third quarter, but the deficit proved too much to overcome. Trail extended its lead to 46–27 heading into the final period before the Eagles mounted their strongest push of the night in the fourth. Mountain View poured in 26 fourth-quarter points, but Lackawanna Trail answered at the free throw line to put the game away.
All 18 of Trail’s free throw attempts came in the fourth quarter, where they connected on 10-of-18 to maintain control down the stretch. Mountain View struggled at the stripe, finishing 6-of-15 — a difference that proved costly as they attempted to chip away at the lead.
Logan Seigle paced Lackawanna Trail with 20 points, while Jimmy Phillips added 17. Lucas Filipek contributed 11 points, Ashton Thiel scored nine, Isaac Ryon chipped in five, and Carter Edwards finished with four as Trail showcased balanced scoring throughout the lineup.
Mountain View was led by Hudson Bain’s 20-point effort. Jordan Jagger added 12, Aidan McCloskey scored nine, and Josh Miller contributed six. The Eagles had seven players reach the scoring column in the contest.
Despite a strong fourth-quarter surge, Mountain View couldn’t overcome the early deficit created by Trail’s defensive intensity and efficient first-half offense. With the win, Lackawanna Trail advances in district playoff play, riding momentum from a complete team performance when it mattered most.
