Three Phases, One Huge Night: Yannone Powers Dunmore Past Lackawanna Trail, 62-7

FACTORYVILLE — Lackawanna Trail struck first Friday night. Then Dunmore and Weston Yannone took over.
The Lions opened the game with an 83-yard touchdown connection from Lucas Filipek to Joey Thomas just 19 seconds in, grabbing an immediate 7-0 advantage.
It would be their only score of the night.
Dunmore answered with 62 consecutive points, including 28 in a first quarter that quickly turned the game.
Yannone was at the center of nearly everything.
The senior broke loose for a 50-yard touchdown run to tie the game, then returned a punt 38 yards for another score less than three minutes later.
Jacob Costanzo joined the defensive scoring with a 30-yard interception return before Yannone struck again, this time racing 29 yards for his second rushing touchdown. By the end of the opening quarter, Dunmore had turned an early 7-0 deficit into a 28-7 advantage.
And Yannone wasn’t finished.
Brady McCormick connected with Jack McHale for a two-yard touchdown in the second quarter before Yannone added perhaps the exclamation point to his night, intercepting a pass and returning it 67 yards for a touchdown.
Four touchdowns. Three phases.
Yannone finished with 79 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just three carries, while adding touchdowns on both a punt return and interception return.
Dunmore carried a 42-7 advantage into halftime and continued to spread the production around after the break.
McCormick found Logan Miller for a 47-yard touchdown in the third quarter, Josef Wolff added a 23-yard rushing score and Josh Dudick broke free for a 69-yard touchdown in the fourth to complete the 62-7 victory.
The Bucks piled up 231 rushing yards on only 21 attempts and finished with 331 yards of offense. Their defense was equally disruptive after surrendering the opening touchdown, holding Lackawanna Trail to just 21 rushing yards and intercepting two passes, both returned for touchdowns.
For Trail, Thomas’ 83-yard touchdown reception accounted for most of its 97 passing yards, while Hayden Reed led the Lions on the ground with 22 yards.
But Friday belonged to Dunmore, and particularly Yannone.
After a huge opening-week performance against Wyoming Area, the senior followed it with another showcase, this time finding the end zone as a runner, returner and defender in a dominant Dunmore victory.
