It didn’t take long for West Scranton to grab control Monday night. One swing set the tone, and from there, the Invaders kept stacking quality at-bats, clean defense, and steady pitching in a game that never really slowed down.

West Scranton rode a strong all-around effort to a 10-0 win over Riverside, highlighted by a perfect day at the plate from Mia Tallo.

Tallo wasted no time getting things started, launching a solo home run to left field in the opening inning to give the Invaders an early lead. It was the first of three hits on the night for the standout, who later added singles in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Invaders continued to build from there.

West Scranton added a run in the second following a Riverside miscue, then pushed two more across in the third when Allie Stanko delivered an RBI single to center to extend the lead to 4-0.

From there, the offense stayed consistent, finishing with 13 hits and continuing to apply pressure throughout the lineup.

Stanko was a major factor in the middle of the order, driving in three runs as part of a 3-for-4 performance. Tallo, Stanko, and Laney Mackie each recorded three hits, while Sophia Deluca added two more in a balanced offensive showing.

In the circle, Kaleiah Connor handled the rest.

Connor tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight and not issuing a walk. The Invaders also backed her with clean defense, finishing the game without an error.

Riverside managed hits from Mackenzie Keller and Mikayla Smith, but couldn’t find a way to break through against Connor.

A fast start, steady pressure, and a complete team effort, West Scranton checked every box in this one.
