SPORTZWIRE DISTRICT 11 FOOTBALL RANKINGS | WEEK 10

Big Schools & Small Schools | Tony Sibilla’s Insights

The final week of the regular season is here, and District 11’s playoff picture is taking shape. Southern Lehigh and Northwestern Lehigh remain atop their respective rankings following their showdown of unbeatens, while Whitehall and Blue Mountain make major statements heading into Week 10.

BIG SCHOOLS

1. Southern Lehigh (9-0)

The Spartans remain unbeaten after winning their second consecutive battle of undefeated teams, snapping Northwestern Lehigh’s 40-game regular-season winning streak. Southern held the Tigers to fewer than 200 yards of offense in the 17-14 victory. Colton Sams threw for 216 yards and a touchdown, while Adam Fritts added 143 rushing yards and a score.

2. Nazareth (8-1)

Eight straight wins have the Blue Eagles positioned for the top seed in the District 11 Class 6A tournament. Cooper Madson threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-21 win over Northampton, bringing his season totals to 2,327 passing yards and 25 touchdowns.

3. Whitehall (8-1)

One of the season’s most remarkable comebacks. Trailing Parkland 42-21 early in the third quarter, the Zephyrs stormed back to win on Nick Miley’s walk-off field goal. Tanner Dogmanits accounted for five touchdowns, throwing for 327 yards and rushing for another 117.

4. Parkland (7-2)

The Trojans saw their seven-game winning streak end despite a massive performance from Finn Coen, who produced 331 rushing yards and 152 passing yards. Parkland couldn’t hold off Whitehall’s second-half rally but remains a dangerous postseason contender.

5. Bethlehem Catholic (7-2)

The Golden Hawks captured their first Christmas City title since 2013 with a victory over Liberty. Axel Burkart piled up 469 passing yards, while Carter Vassa accounted for an eye-popping 249 receiving yards.

6. Blue Mountain (8-1)

The Eagles delivered one of the weekend’s biggest statements, defeating previously unbeaten Shamokin 34-14. Lucas Pritiskutch’s 101-yard interception return highlighted the victory, which extended Blue Mountain’s winning streak to seven and ended Shamokin’s 28-game regular-season winning streak.

7. Allentown Central Catholic (6-3)

The Vikings continue to exceed expectations after significant graduation losses from last year’s squad. A convincing 49-6 win over Dieruff sets up a Week 10 opportunity against Whitehall, with a share of the EPC Lehigh County title potentially at stake.

8. Freedom (6-3)

Back-to-back three-point victories have the Patriots gaining momentum at the right time. Lashawn Johnson erupted for 244 yards and five touchdowns on 36 carries in a 38-35 win over Easton, strengthening Freedom’s chances of hosting a District 11 Class 6A quarterfinal.

9. Pottsville (6-3)

Five straight wins have the Crimson Tide rolling toward postseason play. Donovann Durham rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns on just 17 carries, including a 69-yard score, in a 32-21 victory over North Schuylkill.

10. Lehighton (6-3)

The Indians dominated Palmerton 49-7, racing to a 35-0 halftime advantage. Lukas Croizier rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

SMALL SCHOOLS

1. Northwestern Lehigh (8-1)

The Tigers’ remarkable 40-game regular-season winning streak ended in a hard-fought 17-14 loss to Southern Lehigh. Brady Zimmerman scored twice, added 53 receiving yards and recorded 1.5 sacks. Chase Sukanick rushed for 82 yards, while Nolan Koehler contributed 11 tackles and a sack. Despite the setback, Northwestern remains the team to beat in the small-school rankings.

2. Notre Dame Green Pond (8-1)

The Crusaders overwhelmed Northern Lehigh 58-12 behind Tommy Murphy’s 216 passing yards and four first-half touchdowns. Drew Boyd caught two touchdown passes and returned a kickoff for another score. Notre Dame totaled 378 yards of offense in another commanding performance.

3. Williams Valley (8-1)

The Vikings imposed their will on the ground, rushing for 396 yards in a 42-28 victory over Shenandoah Valley. Fletcher Thompson led the charge with 203 yards and three touchdowns, while Cole Hubler and Trevor Bair combined for another 193 yards and two scores.

4. Palmerton (7-2)

A difficult night for the Blue Bombers, who fell 49-7 to Lehighton after trailing 35-0 at halftime. Palmerton surrendered 271 rushing yards and didn’t reach the end zone until the fourth quarter. A bounce-back performance will be essential heading into the postseason.

5. Tri-Valley (6-3)

The Bulldogs dominated Nativity 41-0, piling up 387 yards and 23 first downs while allowing just 82 yards. Trey Porter threw two touchdown passes to Doyle Flory and added a 43-yard scoring run. Landon Horoschak contributed 111 rushing yards.

6. Executive Education (5-4)

Shawntez Whitsitt produced 200 passing yards and two touchdowns while rushing for two more scores, but the Raptors fell 46-28 to Academy Park. Despite the loss, Whitsitt’s dual-threat ability keeps Executive Education dangerous.

7. Jim Thorpe (5-4)

The Olympians came up short in a 27-20 loss to Saucon Valley. Tyler Hoherchak threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns, but Jim Thorpe couldn’t complete the comeback.

8. Shenandoah Valley (6-3)

Ethan Bench delivered 288 passing yards and three touchdowns on 18 completions, but the Blue Devils couldn’t overcome Williams Valley’s dominant rushing attack in a 42-28 defeat.

9. Schuylkill Haven (5-4)

Colton Reber turned in one of the week’s most impressive individual performances, rushing for 313 yards with touchdown runs of 14, 56 and 25 yards. He also threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Yoder as the Hurricanes amassed 390 rushing yards.

10. Northern Lehigh (5-4)

The Bulldogs struggled to contain Notre Dame Green Pond in a 58-12 defeat. Garrett Smoyer completed 7 of 12 passes for 135 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown strike to Chris Frame.
