The Selinsgrove Seals continue to make noise this basketball season, and much of that success can be credited to junior guard Xaivier Jackson. The Selinsgrove Area High School standout has earned Sportzwire’s Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb 9th, sponsored by Envy Electrical, after a milestone performance and another week of leadership for the Seals.

Jackson, a junior who plays both point guard and shooting guard, reached a major career achievement when he scored his 1,000th career point in a matchup against Hughesville. The milestone marked a significant moment for one of the district’s most dynamic players and highlights the impact he has already made on Selinsgrove basketball with still more high school career ahead of him.

While the scoring milestone grabbed headlines, Jackson’s value to the Seals extends far beyond the stat sheet. Known for his versatility and court awareness, he consistently creates opportunities for his teammates while remaining confident enough to take over offensively when the moment calls for it. His ability to score at all three levels—driving to the rim, hitting mid-range shots, and knocking down perimeter jumpers—makes him a constant challenge for opposing defenses.

Jackson’s leadership has also played a major role in Selinsgrove’s 13–7 season. Teammates and coaches describe him as the steady presence who keeps the team focused during difficult stretches of games. When the Seals come out slow or face adversity, Jackson often provides the spark that reconnects the group and pushes them forward.

That leadership was especially evident recently in a close loss to Danville. After fouling out of a game the team had hoped to win, Jackson didn’t dwell on frustration. Instead, he showed sportsmanship by praising the opposing team and even recognizing a Danville player who also reached the 1,000-point milestone. His response reflected the maturity and character that define his role on and off the court.

Jackson’s teammates also rely on his consistency. On nights when others struggle offensively, he remains composed and productive, helping keep Selinsgrove competitive. That reliability has helped anchor the team’s success this season and has many believing he could eventually become Selinsgrove’s all-time leading scorer before his high school career is finished.

Despite his growing list of accomplishments, Jackson remains focused on the bigger picture—his team and the work that got him to this point.

“Hitting 1,000 points means a lot to me. All the hard work and time I’ve put into basketball made this possible,” Jackson said. “Thanks to my coaches, trainers, and teammates for making me better every day.”

Athletically gifted and extremely versatile, Jackson stands out as one of the district’s top all-around players. His quick, shifty style allows him to create space and attack defenses in multiple ways, while his athleticism helps him contribute on both ends of the floor.

For Selinsgrove, Jackson isn’t just a scorer—he’s the engine that drives the team forward. And for this week, his milestone moment, leadership, and all-around impact make him a fitting choice as Sportzwire’s Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Envy Electrical.
