Seton Hill Pulls Away Late to Defeat Lackawanna College, 20-10

The Lackawanna College Falcons battled throughout Saturday’s contest against the Seton Hill University Griffins, but Seton Hill used a strong running game and a late touchdown to secure a 20-10 victory.

Seton Hill struck first in the opening half with a 34-yard pass from quarterback Boden St Marie to wide receiver Ryan Keith resulted in a touchdown, giving the Griffins a 7-0 lead. Lackawanna responded with a strong offensive drive, highlighted by runs from both Daniel McConomy and Jalen Fletcher, Fletcher then powered into the end zone on a 5-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point by was good, tying the game at 7-7.

The Falcons then took the lead when kicker Isiah Rodriguez connected on a field goal to make it 10-7. Seton Hill answered before halftime with a 49-yard field goal by kicker Rayyan Bataineh, sending the teams into halftime tied 10-10.

The second half featured a defensive battle, with both teams struggling to sustain offensive drives. Seton Hill’s defense produced several key stops, while Lackawanna forced turnovers, including a striped ball by defensive end Nickolas Logan and fumble recovery by strong safety Jahmeil Brown.

Seton Hill eventually regained control in the third quarter with a 42-yard field goal kick from their kicker Bataineh. In the fourth quarter, after a sustained rushing drive, the Griffins scored on a 39-yard touchdown run from Demetri Whitehead to take a 20-10 lead. The extra point was good.

Lackawanna attempted to answer, but a sack and a turnover on downs ended the Falcons’ final serious scoring opportunity. Seton Hill then relied on its running game to drain the remaining clock and secure the victory, with the final score being 20-10.
