On January 27th, 2026, The Selinsgrove Seals dismantled the Shikellamy Braves boys' basketball team at home. Numerous Seals reached double figures, and Selinsgrove won by 45 points.

Q1 -

Griffin Parker got things started for the Seals with a layup. Shikellamy Brave Charlie Walter responded with a bucket of his own, tying the game at two. The Seals then compiled a 9-0 run where Noah Walter, Xaivier Jackson, and Mac DeFazio all reached the basket. During Selinsgrove's 9-0 run, Noah Walter had a huge block down low, which sparked the Selinsgrove Student Section. Shikellamy found a response with another Charlie Walter score in the paint, followed by a two-point shot from Aaron Bucher. During the final minutes, Xaivier Jackson picked up another basket for the Seals, and Justin Zeigler grabbed two-points for the Braves. Jack Piecuch closed the quarter with a layup and the Seals led 15-8.

Q2 -

Shikellamy opened the second quarter with a three-pointer from Alex Piefer, but the Seals then begin their vicious 23-0 scoring run. The first 10 points were accumulated by two three-pointers and two two-pointers. Noah Walter and Mac DeFazio hit threes, while Griffin Parker and Xaivier Jackson each scored two. During the run, Xaivier Jackson blocked a shot which turned into a major backboard put-back dunk.

The crowd went crazy, and the Seals continued scoring until they led 38-11. Near the end of the run, Jack Piecuch put up an and-1 bucket. As time expired, Shikellamy shooting guard Corbin Stahl threw up a three pointer which fell, finally ending the Seals long run. The Seals led by 24 points at halftime.

Halftime -

Xaivier Jackson blocked five shots during the first half which helped keep the crowd awake. The Seals did compile a 23-0 scoring run during the second quarter, and they didn't slow down in the second half.

Selinsgrove Student Section

Q3 -

The Seals outscored the Braves 19-7 during the third quarter. Mac DeFazio opened the half with two free throws for the Seals. The Braves response consisted of five consecutive points from Aaron Bucher before the Seals assembled another large scoring run. The Seals scored 15 straight points, eight of them coming from Xaivier Jackson. Once Shikellamy broke the ice with a two-point shot, Griffin Parker knocked down a layup for the Seals, ending the quarter (57-21 Seals).

Q4 -

The game's best defense came in the fourth quarter where Shikellamy was held to just three points. Those three points came from a long-range three from Aaron Bucher. Selinsgrove closed the game on a 12-0 scoring run, where even Junior Varsity players scored points. The Seals won by 45 points.

Conclusion -

A strong defensive performance from the Seals helped earn them a victory over Shikellamy on Tuesday night. The Braves were held to single digit scoring in every quarter.

Postgame Interview -

After the game, I had the opportunity to catch a postgame interview with Xaivier Jackson. The conversation is provided below.

Ben - "You now have eight-straight wins over Shikellamy, what does that mean to you and Selinsgrove as a whole?"

Xaivier - "It means a lot". "Eight times in a row... That's two times each year... The rivalry has been here forever". Xaivier made it clear that playing hard as a team contributed to the big win.

Ben - "You had five blocks in the first half, you held Shikellamy to just fourteen points, so what was working for you guys early on defensively?"

Xaivier - "Just staying in front of our man, and if we got beat, we had help defense right behind us".

Ben - "You had a huge crowd out here tonight; the student section was absolutely packed, so what does all these fans showing up mean to you, and how do you think it impacts the game?"

Xaivier - "It means a lot honestly, them coming here and watch us play makes the environment really loud and it makes us play harder... It makes us want to be here", Xaivier truly appreciated the fans that came out and he says that it makes the team feel like they have more to play for.
