This one felt personal from the opening tip.

After suffering a 72–67 loss to Dunmore back on January 6, Riverside circled the rematch. Thursday night, in front of a packed home crowd, SportzWire’s No. 3-ranked Vikings delivered the response they were looking for, pulling away late for an 88–71 Division II Lackawanna League victory.

Brayden Rose was electric early and often. The junior exploded for 31 points in the first half and finished with 41 points, recording his first career 40-point game. Rose scored at all three levels and fed off the energy in the gym as Riverside pushed tempo from the jump.

While Rose set the tone, Nico Antoniacci took control after halftime. Limited to six points in the first half, Antoniacci flipped the switch in the second, attacking downhill and closing possessions at the line. He finished with 31 points, going a remarkable 13-for-14 from the free-throw stripe, shutting the door whenever Dunmore tried to gain traction.

To their credit, the Bucks refused to fade.

After an early slow start, Dunmore settled in and chipped away, turning it into a two-point game at halftime. Jimmy Clark led the charge, pouring in a team-high 27 points, including 18 in the second half, keeping the pressure on with timely threes and strong finishes. Brayden Canavan added a big night of his own, finishing with 23 points and giving Dunmore consistent scoring throughout.

Ultimately, Riverside’s balance, free-throw efficiency, and ability to respond to every run proved decisive. The Vikings stretched the lead in the third and fourth quarters, backed by a student section that never let the energy dip.

Riverside improves to 18–1 and will host Honesdale on Monday. Dunmore, now 15–2, looks ahead to a matchup with Western Wayne on Saturday. One thing was clear Thursday night, the rivalry delivered, and The Vikings made sure the script was rewritten.

This one is far from over!
