What a battle for the 2A District championship, as Scranton Prep edged out Abington Heights in a high-scoring thriller, 15-14. It was one of those games that had you on the edge of your seat until the final whistle, a truly hard-fought contest between two determined teams.
Scranton Prep's offense was absolutely clinical, driven by some standout individual performances. Mackey Lynett led the charge with an incredible six goals and added an assist, proving to be a nightmare for the Abington Heights defense. Not far behind was Will McPartland, who found the back of the net five times and chipped in with an assist himself. Jack Rully was also a major playmaker, contributing two goals and an impressive three assists, setting up his teammates consistently. Owen McPartland rounded out the strong offensive showing with two goals and two assists. In goal for Scranton Prep, James Stallman made three saves and Packy James added eight more, with James stepping up to shoulder the bulk of the defensive effort.
Abington Heights certainly didn't back down, keeping the pressure on throughout the game with a balanced and potent attack of their own. Chris Bohn was fantastic, netting four goals and dishing out two assists, showing his versatility. Gavin Anders also had a prolific day, matching Bohn with four goals. Brahman Pallia was a key offensive force, scoring three goals and leading the team with four assists. Rodman Azar and Logan Fedor each added a goal, while Gavin Lindsay contributed a goal and an assist to keep Abington Heights in contention. Goalie Colton Naholnik was busy between the pipes, making 14 saves in a valiant effort to slow down Prep's relentless attack. Ultimately, the Comets just couldn't quite close the narrow gap in this intense championship showdown.
It was a fantastic display of lacrosse from both squads, a true testament to their season-long efforts, with Scranton Prep just managing to hold on for the district title.
