Scranton Prep Girls Basketball put together a strong early-summer showing at the Church Road Invitational, finishing with an 8–1 record and winning the tournament championship.
The Classics went 6–1 in pool play, recording wins over Nazareth, Easton, Voorhees (NJ), Notre Dame Green Pond, North Pocono, and Schuylkill Valley. Their lone loss came against Hazleton.
In bracket play, Scranton Prep advanced with a semifinal victory over North Pocono, while Hazleton defeated Nazareth on the opposite side of the bracket.
That set up a championship rematch.
After falling to Hazleton earlier in the event, Scranton Prep responded with a win in the title game to secure the tournament championship and close the event at 8–1 overall.
While summer basketball does not determine what happens in the winter, tournaments like this often provide an early opportunity for teams to compete together and continue building toward the upcoming season.
