Scranton Prep Breaks It Open, Rolls Past Trinity 45-7

DUNMORE — Scranton Prep didn’t explode out of the gate Friday night. The Cavaliers simply kept applying pressure until the game broke wide open.
Tyler Bianchi’s 31-yard field goal provided the only points of the first quarter before Prep erupted for 28 points in the second, building a 31-0 halftime advantage and cruising to a 45-7 victory over Trinity of Camp Hill.
It was a balanced night for the Cavaliers, who piled up 364 yards of offense, 200 rushing and 164 passing, while finding production from throughout the lineup.
Braedon McPartland helped ignite the second-quarter surge with a two-yard touchdown run at the 11:09 mark. Brandon Farmer followed with another two-yard score before McPartland found the end zone again from two yards out.
Quarterback Oliver Swingle then put the finishing touch on the quarter, connecting with Liam Haggerty for a 10-yard touchdown with just 52 seconds remaining before halftime.
Swingle was efficient through the air, completing 10 of 14 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown without an interception.
McPartland provided a little bit of everything, rushing seven times for 36 yards and two touchdowns while adding three receptions for a team-high 74 yards.
Farmer led Prep’s ground attack with 62 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries, while Owen Jeffers turned three carries into 43 yards as the Cavaliers consistently found room on the ground.
The big plays weren’t limited to the offense.
Noah Krzywiec opened the second-half scoring with a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown, stretching Prep’s advantage to 38-0. Farmer later broke free for a 27-yard touchdown run, his second score of the night, to make it 45-0 late in the third.
Bianchi was perfect on six extra-point attempts in addition to his first-quarter field goal.
Trinity was held to 155 total yards, including 104 on the ground. Adam Dalton led the Shamrocks with 66 rushing yards on 14 carries, while quarterback Makai George completed 9 of 15 passes for 51 yards.
Trinity avoided the shutout when Tyler Kuntz scored on a one-yard run with one minute remaining.
For Prep, though, Friday was a complete performance. The Cavaliers didn’t have to lean on one player or one phase. They moved the football on the ground, were efficient through the air, produced a special-teams touchdown and held Trinity scoreless until the final minute.
Looking Ahead
Scranton Prep stays home in Week 3, when the Cavaliers welcome Fairfield Prep for another nonconference matchup.
After putting 45 points on the board Friday night, Prep heads into the matchup with plenty of momentum and an offense showing it can get production from just about anywhere.
