POTTSVILLE — Scranton Prep is headed to the state semifinals.
The Classics punched their ticket to the PIAA Class 4A Final Four Saturday afternoon with a 49–43 victory over Susquehanna Township in the quarterfinal round, continuing what has been an impressive postseason run.
In a tightly contested matchup, Scranton Prep leaned on balanced scoring and strong execution late to pull away. The Classics held a slim 10–9 lead after the first quarter before Susquehanna Township briefly surged ahead at halftime, taking a 17–19 advantage into the break.
Prep responded in the second half. The Classics matched Susquehanna Township in the third quarter before closing the game strong with a 19-point fourth quarter, sealing the six-point victory.
Chloe Mamera led the way with a game-high 22 points, delivering another clutch performance for the Classics when they needed it most. Shannon Bestrycki added 14 points, including four three-pointers, giving Scranton Prep a major boost from the perimeter.
Prep also received key contributions from Ava Fenton (7 points) and Eva Kaszuba (6 points), helping the Classics maintain offensive balance throughout the game.
The win sends Scranton Prep into the PIAA Class 4A semifinal round, where the Classics will face Neumann Goretti, setting up a high-stakes matchup with a trip to the state championship game in Hershey’s GIANT Center on the line.
Scranton Prep has now continued its strong postseason surge, defeating Allentown Central Catholic, Lancaster Catholic, and Susquehanna Township during the state tournament.
With momentum building and contributions coming from across the roster, the Classics are now just one win away from playing for a state championship.
