Royals Rally Past Loyalsock to Advance in PIAA 3A State Playoffs

WILLIAMSPORT, PA — Holy Redeemer overcame a halftime deficit and used a strong second-half surge to defeat Loyalsock 61–55 Friday night in the opening round of the PIAA Class 3A girls state tournament.

The Royals and Lancers traded punches early, with the game tied 14–14 after the first quarter. Loyalsock gained a slight edge before halftime, taking a 28–26 lead into the break.

Holy Redeemer responded in the third quarter with the decisive stretch of the game. The Royals outscored Loyalsock 16–9 in the period, turning a two-point deficit into a 42–37 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Redeemer continued to control the momentum down the stretch, adding 19 points in the final frame to secure the six-point victory and advance to the next round.

Bella Boylan led the Royals with a game-high 23 points, scoring six in the third quarter and adding nine more in the fourth to help seal the win.

McKenzie Chimock added 17 points, while Tessa Cegelka chipped in 10. Kira Millard contributed 5 points, and Gillian Parsons finished with 4 for the Royals.

Loyalsock was led by Alaina Dadzie, who poured in 28 points to pace the Lancers. Addison Barow added 11 points, while Jaekairah Harden finished with 9.

Holy Redeemer’s balanced scoring and timely third-quarter run proved to be the difference as the Royals completed the comeback.

With the victory, Holy Redeemer advances to the second round of the PIAA Class 3A state tournament, where the Royals will face District 12 champion Imhotep Charter.
