Pink Out, Lights Out: Chargers Take Strikeout Cancer Clash Over Sabers

The Carbondale Area Chargers came ready to compete and ready to support a cause, turning Strikeout Cancer Night into a winning one.

With pink spread across the diamond, the Chargers edged The Susquehanna Community Sabers 3-1 in a tight matchup where runs were hard to find and every inning mattered.

Parker Smith was in command on the mound, working six strong innings while punching out eight. He kept the Sabers guessing all night and gave Carbondale the steady hand it needed.

The Chargers scratched across the first run in the third, then answered after Susquehanna tied things up in the fourth. David Coacci drew a bases-loaded walk to put Carbondale back in front, and another run came home moments later to make it 3-1.

From there, the bullpen slammed the door. David Boguski came on in relief and struck out three in a clean closing inning.

Offensively, Xander Mackie and Emmanuel Gomez each delivered hits, while the Chargers created pressure with aggressive base running and swiped four bags.

Susquehanna battled throughout, led by Owen Cook’s two-hit performance, but Carbondale’s arms were too sharp and the defense made enough plays when it counted.

A night about more than baseball still ended with a baseball message: when the Chargers wear pink, they bring the confidence too.
