The PIAA has released its proposed 2027 Track & Field State Championship qualifying standards, with the Board scheduled to vote on the changes this Wednesday.
If approved, the updated standards would establish new automatic qualifying marks across all four enrollment classifications (AA and AAA for both boys and girls), covering every track and field event from the 100-meter dash through relays and all field events.
As in previous years, each PIAA district will continue to receive a minimum number of state entries per event and classification. In addition, athletes and relay teams that finish eighth place or better at their respective district championships may also qualify for the PIAA Championships by meeting or surpassing the published qualifying standard.
The proposal also maintains additional minimum qualifying requirements for the pole vault.
Several events feature adjustments to the automatic qualifying marks, reflecting an effort to align state championship standards across the Commonwealth heading into the 2027 season.
The PIAA Board is expected to vote on the proposal on Wednesday. If approved, the new standards would take effect for the 2027 Track & Field season.
