Greater Pittston left no doubt.

After building momentum throughout the week, the Wyoming Valley League champions erupted offensively and controlled the game from the opening inning, defeating Chambersburg 11-4 to finish a perfect 5-0 run through the double-elimination Pennsylvania Senior American Legion Baseball Tournament.

Greater Pittston struck first in the opening inning before adding two more in the third. The game broke open with back-to-back three-run innings in the fifth and sixth, building a commanding 9-0 advantage before Chambersburg answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Greater Pittston quickly responded with two insurance runs in the seventh to secure the championship.

The offense was paced by an unforgettable performance from Beau Widdick, who finished a perfect 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, three RBI, and three runs scored.

Tournament MVP Jake Aftewicz delivered another clutch performance, collecting two hits while driving in three runs, and Gavin Wardecki added two hits and three RBI of his own.

At the top of the lineup, Nick Innamorati reached base, stole three bases, and scored three times, while Zach Budzak added two stolen bases and crossed the plate twice as Greater Pittston constantly pressured Chambersburg’s defense.

On the mound, Ashton Lepore turned in another championship-caliber outing. The right-hander worked 6⅔ innings, allowing four runs while striking out five and walking just one before T.J. Johnson recorded the final out to seal the title.

The victory secured Greater Pittston’s first Pennsylvania Senior American Legion State Championship, extending what has already become the finest season in program history. With the championship in hand, Greater Pittston advances to the Mid Atlantic Regional in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, where six state champions will compete for a berth in the American Legion World Series.
