O’Roark, WSLL 14U Roll Past BELLeage Juniors, 22-0
West Suburban 14U left little doubt Thursday, putting together a dominant performance in every phase of the game to earn a 22-0 victory over BELLeage Juniors.
Behind a powerful offensive attack and a pair of scoreless pitching performances, WSLL controlled the contest from the opening inning through the final out.
Olivia O’Roark turned in one of the day's standout performances, blasting two home runs and finishing with four RBIs. The slugger gave her team an early spark with a two-run homer in the first inning, added a solo shot in the fourth, and later drove in another run with a single during a decisive fifth-inning rally.
While O’Roark provided the fireworks, the lineup received contributions throughout the order. WSLL collected 20 hits, with Cameron Mash, Irelyn Scott, Kylie Ferguson and Camdyn Westover all recording multiple-hit games.
The offense never slowed after taking the early lead. Westover added an RBI single in the opening frame before the bats erupted for six runs in the second inning. Scott opened the scoring in the inning with an RBI single, Mash followed with a two-run double, Bryn Roberts knocked in another run with a base hit, and Reagan Bills capped the surge with a two-run single.
West Suburban continued to add on in the middle innings. Abigail Claar and Ferguson each lifted sacrifice flies to extend the advantage in the third before O’Roark's second home run of the afternoon made the lead even larger an inning later.
The biggest offensive outburst came in the fifth, when WSLL 14U plated 10 runs to put the game away. Ferguson and Jerzy Bopp each delivered two-run doubles, Mash added another RBI double, Claar forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk, and O’Roark and Westover each collected RBI singles. Roberts and Bills also drove in runs during the inning.
The pitching staff was just as impressive as the offense. O’Roark earned the win after throwing three hitless innings, striking out six while allowing only two walks. Reese Pinizzotto closed out the shutout with two scoreless innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out two.
WSLL also showed discipline at the plate, drawing five walks. Kylie Sweeney and Pinizzotto each reached base twice via free passes.
BELLeage Juniors managed just one hit in the contest, with Liberty A going 1-for-2. Greta R was charged with the loss after pitching two innings.
From the first swing of the afternoon to the final out, West Suburban showcased the balanced offense, timely hitting, and dominant pitching that fueled one of its most complete performances of the season.
