Old Forge and North Pocono Minors Chase District 17 Banner

Battle for the banner was in full swing on Monday at Miles Street Community Park, as the Old Forge Minors All-Stars and the North Pocono Minors All-Stars met for an exciting Little League matchup in District 17 play. With both teams taking the field with the ultimate goal of capturing the district banner, the atmosphere was buzzing with community support. Families and friends cheered on every play, celebrating the effort and teamwork displayed by all the young athletes on the diamond.

Old Forge started strong, igniting their offense in the top of the first inning. Adeline R opened the scoring by drawing a walk to bring in a run. Old Forge then capitalized on a play that allowed another run to cross the plate. Following that, Olivia S executed a fielder's choice that brought in an additional run. Ellie L showed excellent plate discipline with a walk to add another run. Liza P then stepped up to the plate and delivered a well-hit double, driving in two more runs, before Makynlee R grounded out to score a run and cap off a highly productive first inning.

The Old Forge batters continued to find their rhythm in the second inning. Alyssa D grounded out, bringing in a run, and Kendyll C drew a walk, contributing to the growing score. Sydney K hit into a fielder's choice that also brought a run home, and keen baserunning helped Old Forge add another run on a passed ball. Their offensive momentum carried straight into the third inning, with Liza P grounding out to score a run and Charlotte I earning a walk that also resulted in a run.

On the mound for Old Forge, Olivia S delivered a fantastic start. She showed great composure, not allowing any hits or runs over her two innings of work while recording six strikeouts. Vada M also contributed with a solid relief appearance, helping to close out the game for Old Forge. Offensively, the team collected 12 hits in total and demonstrated fantastic speed on the bases, stealing a collective 24 bases. Alyssa D, Adeline R, Sydney K, Olivia S, Jilibel D, Liza P, Ellie L, and Vada M each stole multiple bases, showcasing incredible hustle.

North Pocono's players showed tremendous dedication and heart from the first pitch to the final out, proving why they are formidable contenders in the District 17 bracket. On the mound for North Pocono, Lucy L displayed great effort and resilience, striking out five batters over her four innings of work. The North Pocono lineup kept pushing at the plate, with Carmela B leading the way by recording a hit and two runs batted in. Brooke T and Liliana P also contributed with solid hits for their team, demonstrating great contact skills. Every player from North Pocono displayed fantastic effort and teamwork, making it an enjoyable and highly competitive environment for everyone watching.
