North Pocono Remains Unbeaten With 3-1 Victory Over Holy Redeemer

MOSCOW — North Pocono girls soccer continued its impressive start to the season Saturday morning, earning a 3-1 nonconference victory over Holy Redeemer.

The Trojans secured their second win in as many days after opening the season with an 8-0 shutout of Wyoming Seminary on Friday.

North Pocono has now outscored its first two opponents by an 11-1 margin while beginning the season with a 2-0 record.

Saturday’s matchup at North Pocono Middle School brought together two District 2 programs from different classifications. Holy Redeemer entered the season as the reigning District 2 Class A champion, while North Pocono competes in Class 3A.

The Trojans had a quick turnaround after defeating Wyoming Seminary on Friday but followed that performance by scoring three more goals against the Royals.

Holy Redeemer opened its campaign with a 6-0 shutout of Hazleton Area but has since dropped consecutive games. The Royals fell to Delaware Valley, 2-1, before Saturday’s loss to North Pocono, moving their early-season record to 1-2.

Despite the loss, Holy Redeemer became the first team to score against North Pocono this season.

The Royals will look to get back into the win column when they return home Tuesday to face Montrose.

North Pocono will attempt to continue its unbeaten start Wednesday when it hosts Delaware Valley.
