North Pocono Outslugs Abington Heights in High-Scoring Affair

The North Pocono Trojans defeated Abington Heights 9-7 in a competitive matchup on Tuesday. The Trojans' offense was relentless, collecting 14 hits throughout the game, with Josh Kalinowski leading the charge by going three for four at the plate.

North Pocono wasted no time in establishing a lead, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first inning. An error allowed the first run to score, and Jameson Gassert followed with a single that drove in two more runs. The Trojans extended their advantage in the second inning with three additional runs, fueled by a double from Jake Reese and another single from Josh Kalinowski, building a six run cushion.

Abington Heights, however, mounted a determined comeback attempt. They chipped away at the lead by scoring runs on a double, a single, a fly out, a walk, and two more singles. Luke Dougherty, Evan Gonzalez, and Noah Kayal were key contributors to the Abington Heights offense, each tallying two hits in the game. Nick Bradley and Finn Goldberg also drove in two runs apiece for the Comets, who collectively amassed 11 hits and showcased their speed with five stolen bases.

On the mound for North Pocono, Max LaFave earned the win, pitching five and one-third innings. He gave up eight hits and six runs, with four of them earned, while striking out five batters and issuing three walks. Dylan Hunter came in for relief, closing out the game with one and two-thirds innings of work, allowing three hits and one earned run, and striking out four. For Abington Heights, Greyson Locker took the loss, going three and two-thirds innings, surrendering nine runs (three earned) on 13 hits, striking out two and walking none. Connor O’Malley-Kalinoski and Reese Zalewski also saw time pitching for Abington Heights. North Pocono's defense also contributed with one double play turned.

Josh Kalinowski earns Player of the Game honors for his exceptional performance at the plate. He was a constant threat, collecting three hits in four at bats, including three singles, and driving in two crucial runs to help propel the North Pocono Trojans to victory. His timely hitting kept the pressure on Abington Heights throughout the contest.
